SDBS Swiss Distance Business School® Undergoes Comprehensive ASIC Inspection

SDBS Swiss Distance Business School® (registered by the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property – Registration No. 806818) recently underwent an intensive, full-day institutional inspection conducted by ASIC (Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges & Universities).

SDBS operates as part of the OUS International Academy in Zurich, which is part of the ISBM Business School in Lucerne – allowed to operate independently by the Cantonal Board of Education in Switzerland – and all are members of the Swiss International University (SIU) network. SIU is a state-accredited institution licensed by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic (KG), ensuring that every degree awarded is legal, recognized, and accepted worldwide.

A Mission Focused on Economically Disadvantaged Countries

SDBS is uniquely dedicated to students from economically disadvantaged countries. If you reside in or hold citizenship from a high-income country, SDBS services are not available to you. This mission ensures that our resources and programs directly support those who need access to affordable, high-quality education the most.

Why ASIC’s Inspection Matters

ASIC is one of the most respected and widely recognized accreditation bodies in the global education sector – officially recognized by the British Government, listed in the U.S. Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) International Directory, and a member of both the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE) and the British Qualifications Framework (BQF).

Its inspections are not symbolic. They are detailed, evidence-based reviews, comparable to regulatory audits, designed to ensure that institutions meet the highest international standards of academic quality, governance, administration, and student support.

The Scope of the ASIC Review

During the inspection, the ASIC auditor evaluated four core areas:

  • Academic Excellence – Assessing the relevance, quality, and global alignment of programs.

  • Governance & Compliance – Reviewing policies, leadership accountability, and legal adherence.

  • Facilities & Infrastructure – Evaluating the adequacy of resources for effective and innovative learning.

  • Student Support & Wellbeing – Ensuring comprehensive assistance for all enrolled students.

ASIC is known for its rigorous, impartial, and uncompromising approach to quality assurance. Institutions that fail to meet its demanding standards risk losing accreditation, making successful completion of the inspection a clear demonstration of our transparency, accountability, and commitment to continuous improvement.

Part of a Network with Over 25 Years of Experience

The SIU network began in 1999 offering on-campus programs, and since 2013 has been a leader in online learning. With offices in key cities including Bishkek, Zurich, Dubai, Riga, and Lucerne, and more to come, our reach is global while our mission remains focused on delivering quality education where it is most needed.

Our Commitment to Opportunity and Quality

At SDBS, our focus is not only on delivering recognized and respected qualifications but also on ensuring that these opportunities are available to students who might otherwise be excluded from quality higher education due to financial constraints.

Quality assurance is not a one-time achievement – it is an ongoing responsibility we embrace every day, in service of our students and our mission.
